A young man was going home from Drogheda to Bellewstown one night.

A young man was going home from Drogheda to Bellewstown one night. When he got to Beamore he decided to take a shortcut across the fields.
He walked for a long time until he thought he should be near the gap. He looked ahead of him but could not see it.
He walked in the direction of it but (he) failed to find it.
At last he got tired and lay down and soon fell asleep.
He arrived home in the morning and told the people that he stepped on a fairy road and could not get out of the field.
