An old man names Pat Byrd was coming home one night on the Church Road.

An old man named Pat Byrd was coming home one night on the Church Road. When down near the Old Mills, a little black dog ran on in front of him. He passed no notice on the dog. Then the bushes began to "tear and tatter" like as if someone was tearing them out of the roots. The whole ditch was then shaken. Then he went home without seeing or hearing anything more.
