- On the old Trim Road they used to drive salt from Drogheda to Trim. Old Peggy Reilly used to see him putting the money into the salt-sack. She used to be telling the people about it. One day a gang of men met him at the Crooked Meadows and tumbled all the salt out on the road and searched him. He had the money in a groove cut in the straddle. He saved the money because he used to change it every day.
