There are many stories told about different birds.
There is a story told about the robin redbreast.
When our Lord was dying on the cross, a robin was so moved with compassion on seeing our Lord in such a sad state that he tried to pull a thorn out of his head and while he was doing this, his breast got stained with blood.
No one in this country ever shoots a swan because the Children of Lir lived in that state for hundreds of years and it is possible that less famous people may also inhabit swans bodies.
When we see seagulls here, we know that a storm is about to take place at sea.
