Yes you carried your cross for Ireland Tom,
And you never laid it down 'till you reached the end of the blood stained rock that led to that to the martyrs crown,
The patriot heart in Your Irish breast no tyrant could subdue and you
Offered it up at freedom shrine,
For the sake of The Roisín Dú.

Yours was the manly stalwart form,
With its curly dark, brown head,
The kindly loving Irish eyes and lip's of the June rose red,
