    and an Augustian Monastery. The Franciscan Abbey was destroyed during the Danish Invasion and the Augustinian one was destroyed during the Norman Invasion. It is recorded in the book called "The Monasticons" that in 736 Maelochtaig, Abbot of Kilbrew died. An old church-yard and two ruins mark the sites of these monasteries.
    Saint Brigid is the patron saint of Kilbrew.
