It is recorded in the book called "The Monasticons" that in 736 Maelochtiog, Abbot of Kilbrew died. An old church-yard and two ruins mark the sites of these monasteries.
Saint Brigid is the patron saint of Kilbrew.
2. Trevet = Trí fód, that is three sods, because three sods were dug in honour of the Trinity.
In olden times it was a townland and belonged to the Parish of Curraha, but now it belongs to Skryne.
