    McCann and Miss Dunne, Miss Masterson, Miss Dowling and Miss Bird. The school was closed in 1916 when the new school was built. There was never any Irish taught in this school. The children paid the teachers according to their means. Father Blake was the parish priest in Longwood at the time it was built.
    There was a hedge school where G. Gilsenan, Newtown, Hill-of-Down, Co. Meath now lives. At that time it was owned by John Farrell and school was taught in the barn. Mr. Masterson was the master. He taught reading, writing, arithmetic, catechism and prayers. The
