    Local Forges
    There are two forges in Killyon each of them owned by two Dixons who were formerly of the same family. Each is situated at a crossroads about 1 1/2 miles apart. One of the forges has been continued for 150 years back.
    The smith buys 1 cwt of iron which makes about 16 pairs of shoes. He curves it by putting it in the fire
