    Long ago people got on better than they get on now. There use to be little shops scattered about this district...

    goods. There was another shop owned by Madge Bailey and she used to sell sugar stick, toffee and sweets. She used to bring it down to the chapel to sell it. When her back would be turned the boys would get a lick at the toffee.
    The people used to bring their butter and eggs to the market in Trim to sell them so that they could pay the rent.
    The farmers used to "swap". One would be badly off for a barrel or oats and he would give some other farmer a barrel of potatoes
