A lot of Names for a Fish that lives
in a ditch1 Golugun
2 Maneater
3 Docka LuacarThey are a dirty fish that live in a dirty ditch or well. They would go into your mouth & give you diabetes. The cure is to eat a lot of salt & then hold your head over water so that the "maneater" would come out for a drink.
This is a kind of lizard which is called in Irish Airc-luacar - the "Craos-Deamhan" of Fr. O'Leary's story.
I have heard it called "Docka-Luacar" round the locality - I don't know what "Docka" would be in Irish. There is a wild coarse grass growing on bad land which is called in Coolronan "luacar-gabhair."
