- (continued from previous page)years ago since it was in use. Some years ago the walls were standing about a foot high. There were three people killed in it. Two of them were burned to death by a fire which broke out. The other was killed by a gap who fired a shot through the window at him. There are no stories told about it. There is an old Church on Athboy side of Kildalkey. It is situated on a hill in the Priests field about a quarter of a mile from Kildalkey village.
There are the ruins of an Abbey in the old cemetery of Kildalkey. It was built in the fifth century. It was plundered and burned by the Danes and was built up again by the Parish. There is writing on the walls of it but it cannot be made out. It is said that ghosts are seen in it. William Rispin
