- On Christmas Eve the people are very busy decorating the house. First it is white-washed and painted. Then holly, ivy, and mistletoe are put on the walls and behind the pictures.
The children go to bed early that night. They hang up thier stockings for Santa Clause to put toys in them. In the morning they are overjoyed to see the toys.
The people have a turkey or a goose for the dinner on Christmas Day. They also have a plum-pudding.
All the shop-keepers give a Christmas-Box to all their customers. The children play all day with their toys. People send cards to one another at Christmas.
