- (continued from previous page)on a gentleman's lawn with an axe. Night came on and he had the tree ready to fall. A man passing by warned him not to knock the tree. The man took his advice and went home. Next day he came and gave it a push and it fell. He went home and did not leave his bed for six months.
- A gentleman (Mr Battersby was his name) died. When the hearse came to the house the coffin was put in but the hoses would not go. They sent for the priest. When the priest came he hit the horses on the back and they went well.
