For boxty bread a fair amount of potatoes grated into a basin strained into a boxty bag or a flour bag, then it is put into the basin and mixed with salt and flour and a drop of sweet milk, then it is put into the oven and remains there for three hours until it is baked.
The cross that was on the cake was to make it rise. Griddle bread was made of flour and wheatenmeal and salt and was baked beside the fire. The support was a griddle.
