One great fire that took place was Mr Bernard Reilly's house. This happened in the year 1920 and there was a great lot of damage done, and there were two people burned to death.
Another great fire was Smyths of Churchtown it was burned in the troublesome times and there was a great lot of damage done.
There was also another house burned in Churchtown which belonged to Patrick Stanley. It was caused by paraffin oil being thrown on the fire and the chimney was burned.
Another great burning which took place in Tullaghanstown was John Keirnan's house. This took place in the year 1920 and there was a great lot of damage done.
As for sickness there was a great "flu" in the year 1918 and a great number of people died.
