- Spicer's old flour mill which is situated beside the Nash Mfg. Cmpany's works, on the Boyne, was destroyed by fire in 1918. All the machinery and flour was damaged. There were no lives lost. The damage done was estimated at £20,000. There was a watchman there but he did not notice the fire till it was too late. It was never rebuilt but part of it is used as Davis' stationery store-room.
- There was a severe snow-storm in 1933. There were no signs to warn us that we were going to have such a heavy fall. The snow piled up in some(continues on next page)
