- (continued from previous page)graveyard at Loyd long ago, and it is shut up now. The Paupers were buried in it. The Paupers were people who had on one to bury or claim them. Some people think there is no graveyard at Loyd because there is no one buried there now. Famous people were buried there besides Paupers. Some say that when the men were building the Spire some of them dropped dead and were buried there.
- There are five graveyards in Kells. There is one in Loyd, two in Cannon St, one in John-Street and one on the Navan Road. The Paupers were buried in the one in Loyd, and there a lot of little crosses round the Spire. There are two in Cannon St. One is a very old one. There was a Cemetery where the Abbey is now.
Some graves have iron bars round them, others have four stones out of the ground and a flat stone on top of them. There are two crosses in the graveyard much like the one in Cross St. The man that made those(continues on next page)- Collector
