- Fishing is the favourite pastime in this district. It is all fresh-water fishing and it is done on the river Blackwater one mile outside the town. The fish that are caught in it are: Salmon; trout; pike; roach; perch; and eels. The usual baits are for, Salmon and trout:- flys. For pike:- a spinning-spoon or frogs. For roach:- dough. For perch and eels:- a worm. There are certain days on which the fish wont take, that is wont take the bait. On these occassions the fishermen muddy the water.
