    A sty
    Get nine gooseberry thorns and point them at the sty for nine days.
    Sore Throat
    Fill a stocking with roasted salt and place it around the persons neck is one cure.
    To gargle salt and water in your throat.
    Mumps
    To go around the pig-sty three times with a tongs around your neck and saying words like "Mucna, Mucna, sin agat a leicne"
    Stings
    The sting of a nettle may be cured by rubbing dock leaves to it.
    The sting of a wasp can be cured by Mrs Gilsenan Lough Bawn by rubbing a dead chicken to it.
    Burns
    If you are burned by steam a good cure is to rub bread-soda to it.
