- (continued from previous page)It used to be the custom for people to tie up their cats on Halloween in order to keep them safe from witches because there are plenty about on that night. Those who do not tie up their own cat might see it wandering about through the fields carrying a witch on its back.It is said whoever goes outside the door on Halloween night they would see spirits wandering about through night.
Throw cabbage along the roadside and when you come back it will not be there.
