Rag-Dolls.
These are very often hideous specimens. Some ends of cloth are rolled up and tied to represent a body. A head is placed on this with some cloth of lighter cloth to form the face. The eyes are beads or buttons sewn in place and the nose and mouth are pencilled.Belts.
The making of belts from coloured sweet-papers is a new craze. These papers are folded in a certain way is passed through the first and so on. The result is often quite a pretty and endurable belt. In olden times
Accounts of toys made in olden times are not available.
Girls always made St Patrick crosses with coloured ribbon.
Often too paper discs were painted with juice of berries and plants when ribbons were not available.
St Brigid cross was made on St Brigid's eve and stuck onto the thatch. Two sticks were tied together to form a cross and straw was woven(continues on next page)- Collector
