    was on Rantavan bog cutting turf, and he sat down to light his pipe and the match fell out of his hand and in ten minutes the whole bog was in flames. There was about fifty pounds worth of turf burned. Kellett was a poor labouring man and no one got paid for their turf.
    The Forester Hall in Mullagh Co Cavan, went on fire one night about twenty years ago. There were pictures in it, and the films took fire. There were no people burned to death but there were four or five badly burned. A man named John Bracken in Mullagh went into the flames and carried out a young boy named Hynes. His hands and face were all burned and he had to be brought to hospital, but he got all right.
    These three fires were the largest burnings in this district.
    In 1921 a plague visited the district
