- All down the ages travelling folk have called to people's homes'.
They always beg the people to buy small articles from them such as jewelery, paper flowers, and delph which they buy in the towns, and they sell porringers and gallons which they make themselves. And some of the poorer ones beg for tea, sugar and flour which they make into bread.
They usually travel in families and lodge one night at a place, but if it happens that a band lodge at a place, they usually let their horses or asses in on peoples' land, and lodge at the place till they are hunted away.(continues on next page)- Informant
