- (continued from previous page)only hanging together. Clogs are rarely worn in this locality and they are made from stiff leather with a wooden sole and a steel tip going all around it. There are a few local men who can fix boots and some of them are, Peter Reilly of Drakerath, Michael Carolan and Patrick Slevin from the same townsland. John Dardis of Staholmog can make boots and the boots he makes wear very well.
There was a man one in this locality who lived where Tom Kearny of Staholmog now lives and he had the art of leather making. This man made boots and his make was well liked throughout the district. This man's name was Tom Smyth and he was locally know as "Ton the Skeet".- Collector
