Outside the forge there is a cement flag of a circular shape and in the middle of this there is a hole, which is used when wheels are being shod. Over the forge door there is a drawing of Bartley Ball the present smith's uncle holding a horse.
There is a story told in this locality about the Blessed Virgin who lost a valuable brooch and met with two jewellers whom she asked to make a brooch but the jewellers refused. Then the Virgin went to a smith who granted her request immediately and she blessed the smith. Then it was thought, that, that is why the water in which the blacksmith dips the horse shoes to cool them cures warts.- Collector
