    I met a land commissoner last Spring upon the road,

    (continued from previous page)
    With tins and tools through fields and pools,
    I went rushing like a turk,
    I had a brand new spade at Newry made and a shovel from Ardee,
    And upon my soul you'd think I'd roll the the morls through the sea.
    But A Mhic no croide believe you my courage soon was gone,
    When the foreman said, "Move on ahead go down to the "Crocan Bán".

    The foreman started pacing I heard him call out five,
    But when he called out seven said I, "Oh man alive,
    Holy murder go no further."
    I think "your'e far enough,
    "Your'e idle long, your'e young and strong,
    So quickly let me see how the fence is made,
    With the Newry spade and the shovel from Ardee."

    But he only frowned and turned around,
    Saying, "I do not wnat your guff,
    You will earn your pay with me to day,
