- One of the fields owned by Mr Finegan which is situated a short distance from the village and which lies to the north side of the Kells road just beyond the yellow River Bridge is called the "Shankhill".
This spot was supposed to be a graveyard as large stones like headstones were found in it some years ago. Being rather near the place where the Bishop's residence was supposed to have been it was probably also the site of an old church as the name was very likely "Sean-Chill."- Collector
