- The industries which were carried on in this district in former times were candle making, soap making, basket making, forge work, spinning and weaving, dyeing and thatching and many other kinds of crafts. There are many of these old crafts discontinued.Candle making.
Candle making was a very important industry in former times because there were no lamps made. People made candles for their own use in their houses.Soap making.
People made soap for themselves and sometimes sold it to their neighbours for money or something in exchange.Basket making.
Baskets were made with light canes and bullrushes. These baskets were used for bringing things to the markets.Forge work.
