    in his young days and after that came the National school of to-day.
    After the Hedge school at the Red Cross the only place where people were taught was in a mud walled house in the Chapel yard, Slane, by a man of the name of Lacey and some of their relations live at Navan. The pupils were better looked after in this school. Some of those people who taught in it helped to teach in the present school under the head teacher Mr Moley.
