- Coalpits. I live in the Coalpits and it is so called because there is supposed to be coal in it, and there are yet old pits to be seen in it where the was used years and years ago but is not remembered by anyone around.
The Mollies are fields so called because they are very wet sloppy fields and are only used for grazing.
The Park wee is another field it is so called because it is so small it is just like a little park.
Hill of the cross is a little field situated at the cross of Balrenny.
Gatie Mor is a field so called because there used to be very large gates on it long ago and it is called gatie mor.
