   The name that holds most common is the Northern name Vaughey.
   The land is very hilly and fertile and large woods encircle it.

   The name of my townland is Thursenstown. It is in the barony of Painstown and the parish of Beauparc. There are about thirty families and one hundred and fifty people living in it. No family name is repeated in the townland. In the whole townland there are only two thatched houses all the others are either slated or tiled. I have asked several people how it got its name and the meaning of its name but not one was able to tell me. There are a few old people over seventy.
