- On St. John's Eve a group of men join to light a bonfire.
They first select a site, usually on the road-side.
They pile up furze, sticks etc. and set it alright at night fall.
They dance, sing and play round it, until it burns down and look for other fires over the countryside.
When going home each person takes a piece of a stick that was in the fire, and puts it in the home-fire.
