in the "Black Field" Ringtown in the year of nineteen hundred and eighteen. Ringtown and Castlepollard were the teams playing. Fifteen men were on either side. When they were practising the best men were picked. It was parish versus parish. Ringtown won the game. The score was three goals.
The hurley was long and crooked. The ball was made of corks cut into slices which was tied up with cords and covered with leather.
