- (continued from previous page)rain will soon come. If the bullfinch is heard making a sound as if he were saying 'wet, wet' we are likely to have wet weather. If we see seagulls following a ploughman it is a sign of rain. When crows are flying in a circle over the trees a storm is at hand.
If sheep are lying on the brow of a hill early in the morning we will have a good day. If cattle crowd under trees a storm will soon come. When we see frogs leaping on the road in the evening the next day will be wet.
If the midges are busy biting rain is likely to come. At night if beetles crawl on the floor of the house it is an indication of rain and when crickets are seen on the floor it is another sign.
When the smoke goes up straight from the chimney good weather is in front of us.
If it is cloudy at the 'butt' of the wind in the evening rain is sure to come- Collector
