- There are many old customs carried on around our district which was in custom many years ago.
I shall relate some of them now beginning with Christmas.
As you know on Christmas eve night everybody lights at least one candle and puts it in the window to show Our Lord that if he is passing that way that he is welcome because on that night when he was born in Bethlehem no one would let him into their house.
The children love that night also when they hang up their stockings to get toys from Daddy Christmas.
Nearly everyone who has got a donkey goes out to his stable at twelve o'clock on Christmas eve night in order to see him going down on his front knee.
Then Christmas day comes and they eat plenty of plumpudding and turkey.
