   began to crack with the weight of them. The walls were 4 feet wide. The outside of the house was always thatched with black oats straw and a white capping made of boards and a galvanized rigging. The old furniture is still to be had the dresser, settle bed, a meal bin (which used to hold 4 and 5 hundredweight of oatmeal in their day) and an armchair.

   The most of the old houses in this district have mud walls. They were all thatched but lately some of them were galvanised. There were very small windows in the about a foot square. There is a wide hearth and a wide chimney in them. They consist of one room and a kitchen
