- Rathwyre is situated about two miles from Raharney. One the top of Raharney Hill there stood a castle. The castle was burned and the gold which was in it melted and ran down the hill. A human being seeing the gold ran after it and it was changed into a dog. He was to mind it until the last day, and it is said he is there still.
