“There is a certain field in Anniscannon about two miles from Killucan.”
There is a certain field in Anniscannon about two miles from Killucan. It belongs to a man named Mr Cooney. This field was covered with furze but the furze were burned and their roots removed by the present owner. This field is now ploughed and crops sown in it.
There is an immense stone in this field. It is said that it was thrown from Clonard by a champion stone thrower in olden times. It is also said that there is a fort a small distance from where the owner of this field lives. It was said that men attempted to dig in this fort but the people that owned this field before this present owner would not allow it.- Collector
