- In our local town there is a fair held
in it every month for the sale of cattle,
sheep and horses. On the day before there
is a pig fair held.
Buyers came from different parts of
Ireland and some come across from England.
there is one held in Kinnegad the
ninth day of every month.
There does not as many buyers attend
Kinnegad as Mullingar, because it is too
far away from a railway station.
In killween the fairs are held the third
Wednesday of every month.
The pig fair is held the day before.
Large numbers of pigs, and cattle, and horses,
and sheep attend the fairs.
There is a large park in the centre
of the town called the fair green.
Many people who have a long distance
to come takes a park near the town.
It is easy to dispose the animals
if they are a good quality or if
there is a want for them, but it is
hard to get rid of inferior classes.
Some time ago the buyers came the
