    A winding the yarn_
A cailin wishing to know the name of her future partner for life and too impatient to wait till he declares himself, on Hollow Eve night takes a ball of yarn to and old limekiln or a pit. Standing on the top of the pit she throws in the wa ball holding the end in her hand. She then rewinds the ball until something stops it, when she calls out "who holds my ball of yarn." The future husband must give his name. Whether he does in every case is doubtful.
