  1. The troopers Mound is situated between Moate and Clara. It is entirely surrounded by beech trees. In the centre is a flat stone under which a trooper was buried in the year 1834. Some time ago as a party were during there about midnight their car was suddenly halted by a large black object. Wen the got out to investigate the object had disappeared.
    On another occasion as a man
    was passing the mound about midnight he heard a rumbling noise and on looking back a barrel came rolling along after him and then disappeared
