  2. There is a field on our farm called the Vetch Field. It is so called because vetches used to be grown there for horses. There is another field called Christy's Horse-park. It is so called because a man named named Christy Fury grazed a horse in it.
There is a hill in Mountrath called Shary's well. It is so called because a foal called Searach used to drink from it. There is a well in a field of Brazil's but nobody knows how it got its name. There is a double ditch in Mountrath called the Reilig pass. Nobody knows how it got its name.
