- (continued from previous page)Some years ago flax was grown abundantly generally around farmers' houses. In Autumn it was cut and tied into bundles which were buried in a nearby bog. A few months later it was taken back to the farmer's house where it was beaten. The seeds were carefully kept in a dry place until it was ready for use. The stalks were woven into linen and the seeds were good for colds.
