  1. In olden times the place names in this district were alot different towards what they are now.
    Luke's gate is in the townland of Culvin and it gets its name from a man who had a little house there and died one day when he was standing at his own gate.
    Another place which has its name changed is the Tanyard.
    Long ago it used to be known as the Long Hollow. They started to tan leather in it and ever afterwards
