Friday. The people in this district never begin to set potatoes, or oats or wheat on a Friday. The unluckiest day of the year to go to fish is Whit Monday, because it is said if a person goes to fish on that day he will get drowned. If it rains on St Swithen's day it will rain for forty days and nights.
