  1. A bórán is made from goat skin. The skin has to be steeped in lime and water, and then the skins hair falls off.
    It is left steeping for a long time and then hung out to dry. It gets hard and stiff and would not break or bend or crack. It is now nailed to a round piece of wood like the rim of a riddle for riddling sand. It is used for filling oats for horses, or bran or crushed oats for pig feeding.
    We have one at home.
    A cooper makes butter tubs, noggins and ferkins from wood. The noggin
