    Men often worked for a farmer for a few days and in exchange for their work he would give them seed potatoes or oats.
    Some coins have names - a penny is caller a "copper", 6 pence is called a "tanner", 1 shilling is called a "bob", and £1 is called a "quid".
    "Boot" is a sort of compensation given during a sale.
    If a man was exchanging an animal with someone else and they said it was better than the one offered to them and wanted money as well as the animal this money was called "Boot".
