- There is an island in Lough Seudy, called the Currant Island, but in years gone by it was known as Ned Naughton's island, because it was owned by a man of that name.On evening (night) Ned and another man were digging potatoes. It was coming on near tea-time and it was time for them to go home for their tea, across the lake to where they lived
When Naughton came to a big flat flagstone he wanted to see what was under it. He pretended nothing, but he said to his companion that he wanted no tea that evening, that he would leave him home across the water and come back himself as he was anxious to finish the digging of the potatoes that evening.He rowed his friend home to his tea and returned to the island. When he came to the place where he had seen the flag, it had disappeared.(continues on next page)
