- There is a ratheen in Noughaval. The man that owned it had one daughter. He had a workman named Tom Cullen. One day while Cullen was fencing he cut a bush out of the ratheen to use for fence. The daughter used to go across the fields to school and pass by the ratheen. A strange man was sitting on the stile where she had to cross.
